The Position:

We are building Boehringer Ingelheim´s Enterprise Development Platform (EDP) to accelerate the development, documentation, and delivery of applications and digital healthcare products onto a growing number of strategic runtime and data platforms: Red Hat OpenShift, AWS, Azure, and Salesforce. We believe in the power of communities and contribute most of our work to the open-source project OpenDevStack on GitHub.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Spend at least 50% hands-on engineering, coaching, and mentoring team members to achieve a flexible, maintainable, scalable, and robust product, and help our team members grow.
  • Continually perform load and performance tests to find where the Platforms and user experience breaks, propose and drive improvements.
  • Strategize with product leadership and other stakeholders and help transform raw ideas into well-defined, communicable concepts.
  • Drive consulting activities with Boehringer´s IT teams to make their products and services consumable via the EDP Marketplace.
  • Help improve our teams to execute and deliver into production frequently and automatically (Continuous Delivery).
  • Ensure that our end-user-facing documentation, with a focus on Boehringer Ingerlheim engineers, remains up to date and useful.
  • Support our customer success teams in resolving challenging issues and/or help identify suitable workarounds.


  • Bachelor´s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in software/system architecture
  • At Least 3 years of experience working with Agile engineering teams practicing Continuous Delivery. Experience in contributing to Git repositories is a must. Previous experience in contributing to open-source projects will be a strong plus.
  • Expert in Kubernetes/OpenShift, Groovy or Java, Jenkins, Spock, or similar technologies.
  • Learn other languages and frameworks to help grow our product into the future.
  • Experience working in a virtual, international, and multicultural environment.
  • Willingness and readiness to travel.
  • Strong communicator, team oriented attitude, innovative, build intuitively understandable insight formats and drive decision making.
